China Datang's Innovative Practices Recognized by Global Experts at COP30
China Datang's subsidiary has recently had its innovative practices featured in the Selected Cases for 2025 Business?(Industrial Park)?Climate Action Cases, released on November 17 during the 30th?Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) in Belém, Brazil.
The case collection?was jointly published by the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of China's Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Dadao Climate Change Promotion Center.
China Datang's subsidiary in?Haikou, capital of south China's Hainan Province, was highlighted in the case collection for its?submission, titled "Leading Collaborative Innovation in Pollution Reduction and Carbon?Emission?Reduction, and Consolidating the Secure Barrier for Smart Energy,"?showcasing the company's?innovative practices?and sense of responsibility in advancing green transition.
At its natural gas-fired power project in Haikou, the company has achieved remarkable results in synergistic?pollution and carbon reduction, energy security, and digital technology integration, among other fields,?through innovative practices such as hydrogen blending in gas turbines, zero wastewater discharge, and 5G-powered smart?operations management.?These achievements have won unanimous recognition?from expert reviewers?at the COP30.
The Haikou natural gas power project is the first large-scale clean energy project in the capital city of Hainan Province. Its first phase comprises two 9F-class (2×460?MW) gas-steam combined-cycle generating units, accounting for?7.7%?of the province's grid-dispatched installed capacity. With an annual power generation of 2.4?billion kWh, the project can meet Haikou's total electricity demand for three months.
Compared with coal-fired units, the project saves approximately 250,000?tonnes of standard coal and reduces carbon dioxide emissions by more than 1.92?million tonnes annually.

Experts praised the project for its breakthroughs in multi-energy complementarity and hydrogen utilization, noting that it provides replicable experience for optimizing clean energy structures.
The project innovatively applies building-integrated photovoltaics,?making?full use of plant?areas?and building rooftops?to install rooftop photovoltaic (PV) panels, small-scale wind turbines integrated into the landscape, and energy?storage systems.?The new-typed?"wind-solar-gas-storage"?integrated green power plant?is?capable of?generating?up to 2.2?million kWh of electricity annually.

As Hainan's first 5G-powered?smart power plant, the project's fully digitized control system reduces equipment failure rates?by 40?percent?and improves labor productivity by 10?percent. Relevant?technologies have been?recognized as one of the innovative cases of digital transformation in China's power construction industry in 2023.

The Haikou subsidiary?will?continue optimizing the?operations?of generating units, intensifying?efforts to make breakthroughs for key technologies, and promoting the application?of more green innovations, thus contributing more?smart solutions and expertise to efforts to address global climate change, said an executive of the project.
